Title: Demonstrating the administration of the Allen Cognitive Level Screen, 6th Edition activities to support client functional assessments.

Speaker: Loren Pordage

Synopsis: A demonstration of the administration of the Allen Cognitive Level Screen, 6th Edition (ACLS-6) activities to support client functional assessments. The demonstrations uses practical scenarios and examples from specific case examples to assist with learning.

Target Audience: Occupational therapists interested in the use of functional assessments and therapy design, particularly for engaging and supporting clients.

Key Outcomes:

  • How the ACLS-6 activities are administered
  • How the activities are setup and what materials are required
  • What prompting is appropriate and guidelines for good outcomes
  • Strategies and tips for engaging clients with problematic behaviours

Potential Value for Profession: The Allen Cognitive Level Screen is a tool that occupational therapists can use to establish a pattern of performance of a person’s everyday life. The pattern of performance can then inform better delivery of interventions, supports and therapies. This presentation is an opportunity for occupational therapists to see practical examples of the ACLS-6 being administered.
