WFOT Congress 2026: Closing Ceremony

Description

In this Closing Ceremony, we bring the event to a close by reflecting on the conversations, connections, and achievements that have shaped the programme. Featuring Samantha Shann, Ritchard Ledgerd, and Tecla Mlambo, the session acknowledges the contributions of delegates, speakers, organisers, volunteers, and partners from across the global occupational therapy community. It also marks an important leadership transition, with Samantha Shann delivering her end of term speech and Tecla Mlambo offering her start of term address, looking both back at what has been accomplished and ahead to the profession’s next chapter.

The session focuses on the legacy of the congress and the momentum it creates for future collaboration, leadership, and action. Speakers reflect on the value of international exchange across practice, education, research, and advocacy, while recognising the strength that comes from a connected and forward-looking professional community. Across the ceremony, a clear message emerges: the closing of the congress is not simply an ending, but a point of renewal, carrying forward shared learning, fresh leadership, and a continued commitment to advancing occupational therapy worldwide.
