1. To assess the theoretical understanding of FCEs among occupational therapists in Kampala.
2. To evaluate the practical skills of occupational therapists in conducting FCEs.
3. To identify challenges faced by occupational therapists in Kampala when conducting FCEs.
4. To explore potential strategies for improving the proficiency of occupational therapists in FCEs.
Methods/ Approach: This qualitative study employs a mixed-methods approach:
- Participants: A purposive sample of 30 occupational therapists in Kampala.
- Data Collection: Qualitative interviews and online questionnaires.
- Data Analysis: Thematic analysis to ensure data richness and depth.
- Ethical Considerations: Ethical approval, informed consent, and participant confidentiality measures.
Results / Practice Implications: the study aims to identify gaps in FCE proficiency and report-writing challenges, which could inform training and professional development programs
Conclusion / Contribution to the occupational therapy profession: By investigating therapists' proficiency in FCEs and identifying areas for improvement, this study seeks to contribute valuable insights to the field of occupational therapy in Uganda. The findings will inform targeted interventions aimed at enhancing therapists' competence in conducting FCEs, ultimately improving the quality of occupational therapy services and promoting better outcomes for clients in the region.
