Introduction: The collective book Timbó: Periferia Poética is the result of the extension project Timbó em Movimento, developed by the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB) branch of the Metuia Network – Social Occupational Therapy in partnership with the Associação Juventude em Ação (AJA) of the Timbó Community, in the city of João Pessoa, in the Northeast region of Brazil. Justification: The initiative, based on social occupational therapy (Lopes; Malfitano, 2016), utilizes public spaces to promote social interaction, education, and cultural expression. Objective: The project encouraged literary production with the participation of nine young individuals, resulting in a collection divided into three axes: Politics, addressing social inequalities; Experiences, featuring accounts of peripheral daily life; and Emotions, exploring subjectivities and affections. Results: The book launch took place at the school and in the community sports court through poetry events that valued local culture, featuring maracatu, rap, slam, and artistic performances. The impact was significant, with local media coverage on television and radio programs, as well as invitations to academic and school events. Conclusion: The project strengthened community belonging, redefined stigmas associated with the favela, and enhanced youth protagonism, promoting the appreciation of community identity and the cultural and political expression of young people. Furthermore, it provided university students with a critical and engaged education, connecting theory and practice. More than just a book, Timbó: Periferia Poética reaffirms the creative power of peripheral youth, fostering a new perspective on the Timbó community and reinforcing its role in cultural resistance and the promotion of social justice.
