Introduction/Rationale: Safehaven Recovery Inc. (SRI), an addiction treatment center facilitating recovery of people from any form of addiction an endeavour anchored on faith believing in the sanctity of life and principle that everybody deserves second chance facilitating purposeful and meaningful return to education, work, family and community. The facility is primarily run by recovery coaches healing from drug abuse along a workforce of a psychiatrist, medical doctors, addiction medical specialist, psychologist, psychometricians, nurses, social workers, occupational therapist, physical therapist, nutritionist and community volunteers applying a vertical approach to healthcare delivery. To counter this approach, an internship program is crafted promoting interprofessional collaboration, a simplistic horizontal approach guided by the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) and the Package of Interventions for Rehabilitation ensuring a comprehensive framework for rehabilitation and recovery.
Objectives:
- Recognize the impact of horizontal approach to health care delivery system in addiction rehabilitation facility

- Demonstrate reflective and collaborative behaviour in delivering horizontal healthcare approach for meaningful functioning rehabilitation and recovery.
Approach: This presentation explores the development of an interprofessional internship program at SRI as springboard for collaborative practice of future healthcare professionals while achieving and reinforcing the vision, mission and goals of the facility prioritizing community reintegration, purposeful engagement and holistic recovery.
Practice implications: Horizontal approach in healthcare delivery system ensures a more dynamic, inclusive, sustainable and comprehensive addiction rehabilitation services from a siloed, disease-specific model and transforms future healthcare professional into more collaborative, inclusive, inspiring and innovative individuals.
