Title: Motor Rehabilitation by Engaging the Mind: A Perception–Cognition–Action Concept
Speaker: Pierre Vignaud, Physiotherapist, Product Manager at Dessintey, Saint Etienne, France.
Pierre Vignaud is a lecturer at PREFMS, the occupational therapy and physiotherapy school in Toulouse, France, where he leads workshops on brain plasticity and mental imagery approaches. He also works as a clinical trainer for all Dessintey devices, providing training both in France and internationally. In addition to this, he contributes scientific support and creates educational content, and he is part of the R&D team involved in developing new devices.
Overview: Motor rehabilitation should be thought beyond movement execution to encompass a Perception-Cognition-Action concept. Body awareness, motor intention, and action planning are key cognitive processes that support and shape motor behaviour. Effective rehabilitation must therefore address the individual as a goal-oriented agent rather than a purely mechanical system.

Speaker: Loren Pordage
Synopsis: A demonstration of the administration of the Allen Cognitive Level Screen, 6th Edition (ACLS-6) activities to support client functional assessments. The demonstrations uses practical scenarios and examples from specific case examples to assist with learning.
Target Audience: Occupational therapists interested in the use of functional assessments and therapy design, particularly for engaging and supporting clients.
Key Outcomes:

- How the activities are setup and what materials are required
- What prompting is appropriate and guidelines for good outcomes
- Strategies and tips for engaging clients with problematic behaviours
Potential Value for Profession: The Allen Cognitive Level Screen is a tool that occupational therapists can use to establish a pattern of performance of a person’s everyday life. The pattern of performance can then inform better delivery of interventions, supports and therapies. This presentation is an opportunity for occupational therapists to see practical examples of the ACLS-6 being administered.
